Fast muscle fibres from Oreochromis andersonii generated higher isometric stresses at low temperature than fibres from O. niloticus, a less cold-tolerant species. Hybrid fish showed codominant expression of myosin heavy chain sub-units but the force generating characteristics of fibres resembled those of the O. niloticus phenotype.en_UK
