| Abstract: | First paragraph: The overall aim of my PhD is to develop and test training interventions for people with developmental prosopagnosia (DP). DP is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that results in severe face recognition problems. The prevalence of DP is estimated to be between 1.2 per cent – 4.0 per cent in children (Bennetts et al., 2017), making it almost as prevalent as severe dyslexia (~5%, The Dyslexia Association, 2019) and more common than autism (~ 0.6%, World Health Organisation, 2019). Individuals with DP can experience profound negative psychosocial consequences including anxiety, embarrassment and social isolation. The inability of children with DP to recognise caregivers also has important safety implications (Adams et al., 2020; Dalrymple et al., 2014). |
