dc.description.abstractObjective: Patient beliefs about heart failure may be important determinants of adherence. This study assessed levels of adherence to angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) and examined whether beliefs about heart failure were associated with adherence to ACEI. Method: Fifty-eight patients with chronic stable heart failure (80.22 years SD: +4.62, 43% female) were recruited from outpatient clinics in Dundee Scotland. The Illness Perception Questionnaire-Revised (IPQ-R) was used to assess beliefs about heart failure. Adherence to ACEI was assessed by measuring serum levels of angiotensin-converting enzyme (sACE).
