dc.description.abstract | The paper begins by explaining the significance of higher capacity utilization in the mining industry of Iran with respect to its impact on the economic health of the nation. Production levels and performance indicators are then compared statistically with similar industries in some other countries and remedial actions produced. Geological requirements for mechanization are discussed and hence mechanisability of coal seams in the country evaluated. Finally, a typical coal seam in Kerman area is adopted in which a fully mechanized longwall face is designed. Optimum equipment is chosen for this panel and layout of working given. The paper concludes that this seam is highly merchandisable and the use of advanced technology will result in considerable improvements in production and productivity. | en_UK |
