dc.description.abstract | This paper treads a path between assuming an extensive familiarity with the issues, on the one hand, and on the other provoking the criticism of saying nothing new. Quite apart from the intrinsic interest ,of the debates at Cambridge University in the 1930s, we would see a useful place for idle balances in the analytical vocabulary of modern Keynesians. The term may not be without a current utility. Examination of the earlier debate serves to highlight the analytical issues for which the idle balances concept is relevant. | en_UK |
