Abstract: | This report details all references to Pilgrimage and the Cult of the Saints in Fife. It was commissioned in order to find a deeper understanding and appreciation of the range, nature and content of historical references to pilgrimage in Fife. This information was used as part of the interpretation, maintenance and management strategies delivered as part of the Fife Pilgrim Way Project. Using a combination of modern and medieval routes, it is planned that key pilgrimage-related features along the route (and further afield) will be conserved, interpreted and promoted to create a cultural, recreational and educational walking route for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike. More generally, interpretative material generated by the report will be used to tell the wider story of pilgrimage in medieval Fife. |
