Abstract: Part 1 of the results of an interdisciplinary project to survey the buried remains of the east-end choir of the medieval Benedictine abbey of Dunfermline, Fife, and its royal burial grounds of c.1070-c.1420, combining ground-penetrating radar and historical research. Part 1 presents the research context, aims and three phases of pilot GPR surveys.
