First paragraph: Time not only affects organic organisms such as us humans: inanimate objects including buildings are also subject to ageing, manifested in the transformation of building materials over time. Elements that form the fabric of the building can develop a patina, or crust. These signs of age can be perceived in different ways depending who the viewer is; they add an age value that can not be replicated any other way.en_UK
