Abstract: First paragraph: In this Chapter a brief rationale for career assistance programs in contemporary elite sport is presented, followed by an overview of existing programs, their target populations, content, and style of delivery. The next section describes three sport-career assistance program evaluation studies and concludes with brief comments on work-career assistance interventions that have potential implications for sport. Finally, directions and recommendations for career assistance program evidence-based research in sport settings are made.
