First paragraph: In 2013, the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and the University of Stirling led an exciting initiative called ‘Stories in the Land’ which encouraged people to become collectors, creators and tellers of old and new stories inspired by the epic journeys of the Scottish drovers and other travellers. ‘Stories in the Land’ was principally funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Ernest Cook Trust, with additional support from The Gannochy Trust, The Robertson Trust, Storyline Scotland and Perth & Kinross Council. A major focus was to provide opportunities for people of all ages to take part in local journeys of varying lengths, from short walks of an hour or so to expeditions lasting several days which involved ponies, and even a pony and cart.
