The new Scottish government established the Scottish Broadcasting Commission in 2007 to map out the future for the broadcasting sector in the country. The Commission’s report set out some radical proposals for a Scottish TV station and attempted to galvanise the media and political institutions to improve the economic and cultural status of broadcasting within the UK media as a whole. This article examines the report of the Commission and its implications for broadcasting at a time of considerable change within UK broadcasting and territorial politics.en_UK
