Abstract: | This research was carried out between November 2002 - 2005 to increase understanding of the use and effectiveness of secure accommodation in relation to young people placed on the authority of a children's hearing. It also examined the circumstances in which open residential or community-based services might provide an ‘alternative' to secure placement. |
