Abstract: Enterprise Zones have attracted considerable discussion. One aspect has however been neglected, that of retailing developments. This paper points to the importance of the retail developments that have taken place within the Swansea Enterprise Zone, placing the analysis within the context of the control of retailing in Enterprise Zones nationally, and the move away from the high street in British retailing.
